The Fall-elujah Tri-Fold Folio started with artwork from one of my fall collections from last year. I decided to give that artwork a completely new purpose. The result is a cozy little folio filled with pockets, tags, tickets, and autumn details.
For the Fall-elujah event in The Crafty Bunch Venue, I went back to my Home for the Holidays: Autumn Welcome collection. I pulled out the beautiful fall porch artwork and used it as the starting point for this project.
Giving an Older Collection a New Look
The original collection leaned much warmer, with more orange and rust tones. However, the porch image had quite a bit of gray. So I wanted the rest of the project to connect those cooler grays with the warm fall colors.
First, I added a soft gray plaid for the inside of the folio. It has just a tiny touch of rust running through it. Then I paired it with a vintage-inspired leaf and script paper for the pockets.
I love going back through older artwork and finding new ways to use it. After all, you do not always need to start from scratch. Sometimes a few changes can give an older design an entirely new life.
Putting the Folio Together
The basic folio really is quick and easy to make. The behind-the-scenes adventure of getting the printable ready was another story! 😂
After printing the pages, I cut out the folio and folded the three sections. Then I added the coordinating pockets over the plaid interior.
The pockets give you several places for tags, photos, notes, and little treasures. I also layered pockets on one section to create even more tuck spots.
On the back, I added the pumpkin pocket. However, I only glued around the outside edges. That created another tall pocket behind it.
Tags, Tickets, and Fall Goodies
The printable also includes coordinating photo pieces, tags, and vintage-style Admit One tickets. You can use them just as they are. Or, you can turn them into journaling spots or tags of your own.
You can also mix in your own photos and ephemera. For example, tuck in memories from a fall outing, a favorite recipe, or a festival ticket. A little handwritten note would be fun, too.
One reason I enjoy making folios is that they have lots of pockets and interactive pieces. At the same time, you do not have to commit to making an entire journal.
In fact, a folio can even be treated like a larger handmade card. Fill it with little surprises and send it to someone special.
