If you’ve ever wished you could bottle up the feeling of a relaxing day by the water, this project might be just the inspiration you’re looking for. Soft coastal colors, charming seaside cottages, weathered boardwalks, and peaceful ocean scenes all come together in this interactive beach folio created with my Seaside Getaway printable collection.
While this project began with a simple folded folio, it quickly became one of those “let’s see where creativity takes us” projects. As I worked, new ideas emerged, flaps changed locations, and pockets appeared where I hadn’t originally planned them. That’s one of my favorite ways to create!
Start with a Simple Base
One of the nicest things about making folios is that you don’t need an elaborate foundation. A few folds create the basic structure, and from there you can decide exactly how interactive you want your project to become.
For this seaside version, I added layered flaps, tuck spots, and a hidden pocket behind the lighthouse panel. Each addition creates another opportunity to tuck in photos, journaling cards, postcards, or vacation memories.
One Collection, Many Possibilities
Although I used the Seaside Getaway Collection to create this folio, the printable papers can easily be used for many other projects as well. The scenic backgrounds work beautifully in junk journals, while the smaller embellishments are perfect for layering on tags, MemoryDex cards, ATCs, greeting cards, scrapbook layouts, and travel journals.
Because everything coordinates, it’s easy to mix papers and embellishments without wondering whether they’ll work together. Whether you’re creating a travel journal, documenting a beach vacation, or simply dreaming of ocean breezes, the collection is designed to work together beautifully.
Creative Tips
- Begin with a simple fold and let your embellishments help determine where additional flaps or pockets belong.
- Mix larger scenic papers with smaller embellishments to create depth without overcrowding your pages.
- Hidden pockets are a wonderful way to store postcards, tags, journaling cards, or special vacation memories.
- Print an extra copy of your favorite page so you’ll have additional elements available for layering and dimensional details.
- Remember that every folio can be customized. Add more pockets, change the flap sizes, or include extra journaling space to make it your own.
