Like so many of you, I wear many hats and have plenty of creative interests. I’m Kristie Sloan, the creator behind My Artful Adventures, and I’d love to have you join me as we explore creativity through approachable arts and crafts, one step at a time.
Whether we are making junk journals, folios, handmade cards, mixed media projects, printable collections, creative kits, or an occasional easy painting project, my goal is to help you feel encouraged, inspired, and ready to try something new.
My Mission
My mission is to help women relax, recharge, and make room for stress-free creative time through artful adventures in paper crafting, junk journals, mixed media, memory keeping, easy painting, livestream tutorials, printable collections, creative events, and handmade kits.
Creative time can be restful, fulfilling, and often therapeutic. I believe creativity should feel welcoming and achievable, whether you are brand new, returning after a long break, or already have a craft room full of supplies waiting for your next adventure.
Pablo Picasso so wonderfully stated, “Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
My Story
I have enjoyed arts and crafts since I was old enough to hold a crayon. As a kid, I got more excited about an Easter basket brimming with colorful paper and watercolor pencils than a candy-filled basket. At nine, I learned to sew, and by fourteen, I was making most of my own clothes. From needle crafts to stained glass work, I never met a craft I didn’t like.
I have always loved experimenting, learning, and turning creativity into an adventure. Growing up on a rural country road in Colorado, I collected beer cans to make miniature furniture, which fed my love of miniatures and eventually led to creating miniature oil paintings. I also learned to decorate cakes and even made my own wedding cake. During the first holiday season my husband and I were away from home while he was in the Navy, I created all of our Christmas tree ornaments from the most basic supplies.
Those creative adventures shaped the way I teach today. After many years of teaching crafts to both children and adults, including my own family, I have learned how to break projects and techniques into clear, manageable steps.
Today, from my home craft room in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I share creative tutorials, livestreams, events, printable collections, and kit-based projects designed to help you explore your creativity without pressure. Around here, paper crafting may be a favorite starting point, but the real adventure is discovering what creativity can become in your own hands.
Grab your imagination passport and let’s start this adventure!
Cheers to YOUR Artful Adventures!
