This week’s Tiny Tuesday is all about the construction! If you’ve been wanting to make a mini journal but didn’t know where to start, this is a fun little project that goes together quickly and leaves you with plenty of room to make it your own.
Even though it’s a compact journal, this unique construction gives you 15 interior pages to decorate, journal on, add photos, tuck spots, pockets, or whatever fits your style. That’s a lot of creative space from just a few pieces of paper!
I made mine using papers from my new Arts & Crafts Collection, but you can use just about any scrapbook paper or printable collection you already have. In fact, I designed the measurements so everything fits on standard 8½” x 11″ paper. That makes it a great project for using digital printables you can print right at home.
One thing I especially like about this journal is the page size. Each page is large enough to hold a 4″ x 6″ photo or journaling card, which works perfectly with so many scrapbook collections and printable kits.
I’ve included the cutting and scoring measurements below, and then you can follow along with the video as we put it all together. Some projects are just easier to see than explain, and this is definitely one of them!
Watch the video tutorial:
Cutting & Scoring Instructions
Cut 2 Cover Pieces:
- 6″ high x 10″ wide
- Score each piece at 4½” and 5½” on the 10″ side.
Cut 6 Inside Pages:
- 4⅜” wide x 6″ high
- Score at ¼” on the 4⅜” side of each page, creating a score down the long edge of each page.
Once everything is cut and scored, just watch the video and craft along with me. Before you know it, you’ll have a fun little journal ready to decorate with your favorite papers and embellishments.
I hope you’ll give this one a try! If you make one, I’d love to see how you decorate it. Every journal will be a little different, and that’s part of the fun.
Happy creating, and I’ll see you next week for another Tiny Tuesday!
