Today’s Tiny Tuesday project shows how to make an easy corner bookmark from an envelope using simple supplies you may already have at home.
This easy corner bookmark from an envelope can be customized for books, journals, and junk journals with patterned paper, lace, florals, and other decorative details.
This project reminded me of bookmarks my mom used to make when I was a kid. Sometimes a good idea is worth bringing back—not because it is brand new, but because it is simple, useful, and still fun to make.

How to Make an Easy Corner Bookmark from an Envelope
This project starts with a plain envelope. Once the envelope is sealed, one corner becomes the base for a simple triangle bookmark that slips over the corner of a page.
- Seal the envelope closed.
- Measure equal distances from the corner on both sides.
- Cut from mark to mark to create a triangle pocket.
- Cover both sides with patterned paper.
- Add flat embellishments, lace, florals, ink, or other decorative details.
- Slide the finished bookmark onto the corner of a book or journal page.
I kept this corner bookmark fairly flat so it would work well inside a book. If you are making one for a junk journal, mini album, or creative journal, you could add more layers and dimension.
Ideas for Decorating Your Corner Bookmark
Once the basic bookmark is made, the decorating is the fun part. You can keep it simple or make it as fancy as you want.
- Patterned paper
- Ink around the edges
- Small floral pieces
- Lace or fabric scraps
- Labels or word strips
- Flat embellishments
- Vintage paper scraps
For this version, I used patterned paper, a small floral piece, and a little bit of vintage lace. The lace added a sweet handmade touch without making the bookmark too bulky.
A Simple Paper Craft Worth Bringing Back
I love projects like this because they do not have to be complicated to be useful. This easy corner bookmark from an envelope is quick to make, easy to personalize, and a great way to use small pieces of paper or embellishments.
It is also a fun little project for books, journals, planners, junk journals, or handmade gifts.
Have you made corner bookmarks like this before, or is this your first time trying one?
