Mini Junk Journal from Packaging with Vintage Music Paper

Sometimes the best project ideas show up right before something heads to the trash.

In this project, I turned a small piece of packaging into the cover for a mini junk journal from packaging using vintage music paper, old-style pages, and a bit of lace for a soft finishing touch. This video is slightly edited from a previous livestream, and it is a fun example of how everyday materials can become something creative and charming.

If you enjoy repurposing bits and pieces into handmade journal projects, this one is a sweet little idea to try.

A Tiny Journal Idea from Everyday Packaging

This project started when I was about to throw away a small package and realized it would make the cutest little journal cover. From there, I trimmed the box down, covered it with vintage music paper, lined the inside, and started building a mini signature with a mix of aged and vintage-style papers.

One of the things I love most about projects like this is that they do not have to begin with a detailed plan. Sometimes the idea appears in the moment, and you just follow it to see what it becomes. That is exactly what happened here.

Vintage Music Paper and Soft Details

The vintage music paper gave this tiny journal so much character right away. I also added lace trim for a soft, timeworn look, and I used a variety of papers inside to begin building out the little signature. Even though the journal is small, it has plenty of charm and lots of possibilities for decorating.

This kind of project is also a great reminder that older papers, ledger-style pages, and small scraps can work beautifully in miniature journals.
