Some of my favorite projects begin with a handful of unrelated scraps.
A torn piece of map paper. A fragment of old ledger paper. A postage stamp. A small building image. Individually, they are simply bits and pieces. However, when layered together, they can begin to tell a story.
That is exactly what happened with this week’s Tiny Tuesday project.
I used the Post Office from my Tiny Main Street printable collection as the focal point for a MemoryDex card. Rather than focusing on techniques or complicated construction, I spent my time thinking about the story the card might tell. The map suggested distance and travel. The ledger paper hinted at correspondence and records. The post office became the place where those stories connected.
One of the reasons I enjoy working on a small scale is that it encourages creativity without becoming overwhelming. A MemoryDex card offers only a limited amount of space, which means every layer, color, and detail matters. Instead of filling a large page, you are challenged to create a tiny scene that captures a feeling, a memory, or an idea.
These small projects are also a wonderful way to use the treasures many paper crafters already have on hand. Old book pages, maps, receipts, ledger papers, stamps, labels, tickets, and scraps of decorative paper can all become part of the story. There is no right or wrong combination. The fun comes from experimenting and seeing what develops as the layers come together.

In this week’s Tiny Tuesday video, I share how I created this MemoryDex card, along with a simple way to make the MemoryDex slots even if you do not own a specialty punch.
Whether you work from a collection of vintage treasures or a freshly printed page of paper elements, the goal is the same: to create something meaningful, personal, and uniquely yours. Sometimes all it takes is a tiny building and a few scraps of paper to tell a story.
Free Printables
The project features the Tiny Main Street Post Office printable. I have also created a companion printable called Tiny Main Street Story Layers for anyone who would like additional pieces for creating MemoryDex cards, tags, artist trading cards, journal embellishments, and other paper-crafting projects.
