In this Tiny Tuesday, I’m sharing a simple and fun Zig markers colorless blender technique that creates soft, controlled color without the harsh lines you sometimes get when applying marker directly.
If you’ve ever felt like your marker color goes on too strong or is hard to control, this technique gives you another option. By using a colorless blender to pick up and move pigment, you can create lighter, softer effects while still maintaining control over your coloring.
In this video, I’m using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers along with a colorless blender to demonstrate a few different ways to apply and blend color. This method works especially well for stamped images and is a great alternative if you enjoy a watercolor-style look but want something a little easier to manage.

What You’ll Learn
- How to use a colorless blender with Zig markers
- How to pull and soften color for more control
- Ways to build light layers of color
- How to add simple shading to stamped images
- Why paper choice matters for this technique
Supplies Used
- Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
- Zig Markers Colorless blender
- Tombow TwinTone marker (for fine details)
- Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Smooth paper
- Art Impressions stamp
One important tip when using this technique is to work on a smooth paper surface, like Bristol smooth. This allows the pigment to move more easily when you use the blender, giving you those soft, blended effects.
Tiny Tuesday is all about trying new techniques, playing with supplies, and discovering what works in a low-pressure, creative way. This is a great example of how a simple tool like a colorless blender can completely change how your markers behave.
If you give this technique a try, I’d love to hear how it works for you!
